Abohar, December 24

While SAD MP Sher Singh Ghubaya’s son Davinder Singh and brother Munsha Singh had this week joined the Congress, SAD MP Zora Singh Mann’s younger son Nardev Singh is likely to join the BJP on Sunday. This will reflect another division in the families of SAD leaders in Jalalabad segment which SAD chief and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal is representing.

Zora Singh Mann rose from being a sarpanch of Sohelawala village to become the member of Lok Sabha from Ferozepur parliamentary constituency in 1998 as SAD nominee. He stuck to the position till 2009. He was preceded by BSP MP Mohan Singh Phalianwala who has now joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Mann was succeeded by Sher Singh Ghubaya and died in 2010 after a prolonged illness. His elder son Vardev Singh Mann has been fielded again from Guruharsahai constituency to face Congress MLA Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi. Vardev had lost elections in 2012.

Nardev Singh popularly called Bobby Mann had served as election campaign in charge for his father in Abohar and Balluana segments during the parliamentary elections. He confirmed today evening that BJP leaders had persuaded him to join their party and it might be possible when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visits Fazilka to address the “Kisan rally” on Sunday. His name may also be considered for party ticket in Abohar constituency, well placed sources indicated.
