Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today flayed the Congress for “befooling” farmers in the name of “Karja Kurki Khatam, Fasal ki Poori Rakam” programme.
Congress manifesto committee chairperson Rajinder Kaur Bhathal and Manpreet Singh Badal told the media on Saturday that if voted to power, the Congress would not waive the complete debt of farmers, but loans taken from cooperative societies.
“The Congress stands exposed. It does not have a roadmap to waive farmers’ debt,” the AAP told the media here.
State AAP in-charge Sanjay Singh, co-incharge Jarnail Singh and manifesto committee member Chander Suta Dogra and were present at the press meet.
“As per the official record, farmers of the state have to pay Rs 80,000-crore debt. The promise of waiving Rs 10,407 crore borrowed from cooperative societies make up only 12 per cent of the debt,” Jarnail Singh said.
Sanjay Singh compared Congress’ tactic with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of getting back black money from Swiss bank and providing every Indian with Rs15 lakh. “Neither the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government nor the Modi-led NDA government implemented recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission,” he added.
