Chandigarh, September 19
Awaaz-e-Punjab leader and former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu has decided to pull out of ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, a TV show.
Sources said he had given a one-month notice to the company producing the show. The episode that will go on air on September 30 will be his last.
Manish Vinayak, incharge of the media cell of Awaaz-e-Punjab, confirmed the development. He said Sidhu was in the process of terminating his contract. “Being the top leader of the outfit, he needs to spend a lot of time in Punjab in the run-up to the Assembly elections,” Vinayak added.
When asked during a press conference earlier this month whether he would continue with the Kapil Sharma show, Sidhu had said that his political and professional life always ran parallel.
Sources said he would lose crores of rupees due to his exit from the show.
