Chandigarh, July 20

After targeting Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhry for her reported statement terming Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar an honest man, Congress leaders from the Bhupinder Singh Hooda camp today hit out at former minister Capt Ajay Yadav.

In a joint statement issued here today, former ministers and MLAs Rao Dharampal, Rao Narender Singh, Rao Dan Singh, Jagbir Malik, Geeta Bhukkal, Shakuntala Khatak, Jai Tirath Dahiya, Jaibir Balmiki, Aftab Ahmad, Bhim Sen Mehta, Sumita Singh and Bharat Bhushan Batra today alleged Yadav’s unbridled diatribes had cause much harm to the party.

“Crossing all limits of decency, Capt Ajay Yadav has not only tried to slur the image of the former Hooda government, but also not hesitated to share dais with BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini and meet Khattar,” they said in the statement.

Being a senior party leader, they said, Yadav must know that decisions taken by the Cabinet were not of the Chief Minister alone. “When Yadav was a minister in the Hooda Cabinet, he never objected to any decision taken in its meetings, but now he is raising accusing fingers.”

The Congress leaders said it had been party’s policy not to speak on religion or caste lines, but the former minister was trying to fuel caste frenzy in the state. “Capt’s statements on TV and other media showed he was at the forefront of creating indiscipline in the state party unit.”

The Congress leaders have demanded that the party leadership should take note of Yadav’s “indiscipline” and take action against him.

Capt Yadav said these leaders were not speaking their own language, but that of a ‘Moni Baba’ in Haryana. “I will reply only when ‘Moni Baba’ himself speaks,” he said. Capt Yadav did not clarify who ‘Moni Baba’ was. He, however, said he never shared dais with Saini. “I am a loyal soldier of the Congress and will always remain one.”
