Uttarakhand Women’s Congress president Sarita Arya today said the new state executive would be announced within six months.
Sarita, while addressing mediapersons, said the new state executive of the women’s Congress would be a mix of old and new faces. She said new committed party workers would also be made members of the executive.
Sarita said she would tour the Garhwal region from July 3, where she would meet party workers.
She said the women’s Congress aimed at ensuring a resounding victory to the party in the 2017 Assembly elections.
She said women workers from Uttarakhand would participate in the Parliament gherao protest of the party slated to take place in Delhi on August 6 against the alleged anti-people policies of the Central government.
However, she complained that women party workers were not being given adequate representation in both the government and the party organisation. “I took up the issue with Chief Minister Harish Rawat and sought suitable adjustments for senior women workers both in the government and the party organisation,” she said.
She said the state government had introduced several schemes for the benefit of women in the state. These include Kanya Dan Yojana under which Rs 50,000 is provided for the girl’s marriage.
