Srinagar, January 3
A new political outfit — “Jammu and Kashmir Itihad-ul-Muslimeen” — was launched here today.
The party was announced by a group of youth promising to focus on the issues of the younger lot.
“Ours is the first youth mainstream political party in the Valley. Till now there have been youth wings in political parties but they exploited the youth for their rallies only,” Mudasir Tantray, president of the outfit, told mediapersons here.
Tantray, who unsuccessfully contested the Assembly polls from the Langate constituency of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, said the party would focus on the issues of the youth such as employment generation, removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the needs of handicapped people and better use of resources. — PTI
