Poll countdown begins at Gymkhana

The final countdown to the elections at the Jullundhur Gymkhana has already begun. While the ‘Progressive’ and the ‘Achievers’ have fielded their candidates for various posts in the executive council, a third group ‘Dynamic’ has also started making rounds in the club election scenes from the last few days.

While non-political entity Dynamic group has not fielded any candidate for any of the posts, it has boasted of playing a decisive role in the final result with a strong members base of more than 250 members that is expected to reach up to 500 members. The leading business men of the city are reported to be the members of this group and now it is expected to play a decisive role in the election results.

According to Jyoti Prakash, the group president, his four-member executive team would prepare an agenda for the club activities. “After discussing a lot, we had cast ballots amongst our members on Friday to decide our unanimous support to the contestants fielded in the elections,” said Jyoti Prakash. He further said that the result of the poll will be announced soon to its members.

With only one day left for the poll, the contestants are making best efforts to reach out to maximum number of members through whatever means available to them at a given point of time. However this time, most of the campaigning has shifted to the virtual world only with club member making their own support groups on various social networking sites.

The elections are slated to be held on January 4.
