How far could a person go to realise his/her dream? We have often heard Hollywood and Bollywood actresses transform their body shape completely to suit their role and get a realistic feel, but Pollywood queen Neeru Bajwa has gone a step forward and shot her dream project “Channo - Kamli Yaar Di” when she was actually eight-month pregnant.
Lending credence to her role in the movie, Neeru has played the role of an eight-month pregnant Punjab woman who travels to Canada to find her husband, Jeet. However, the fact that Neeru was actually in her eighth month while shooting the movie speaks volumes about her dedication and commitment towards cinema.
Directed by Pankaj Batra, the movie has Neeru and Binnu Dhillon in the lead role, along with Rana Ranbir and Karamjit Anmol. It will release on February 19.
Speaking to Patiala Tribune, Neeru Bajwa, who was in the city to attend a blood donation camp organised by Zarriya, an NGO, narrated the journey of her first production under “Neeru Bajwa Entertainment Mystery Man Productions” and how her real-life pregnancy helped her in expressing her character in a much better way.
“Since long, I have been looking for a different script to launch my production house and that’s when the script of ‘Channo’ came to me. I was completely moved by the plight of the female protagonist and that’s when I decided that this was the perfect script and there was no going back. Coincidentally, I got pregnant during the same period and saw it as a perfect sign to kick start my dream project,” she said.
Neeru said she had to work really hard to complete the role, but she would not give up.
“I was tired at times and would want certain changes to be made according to my health and that’s where my co-stars helped me a lot. They are the real heroes of this movie as they worked tirelessly without any queries to make things comfortable for me. At times, I was nervous because handling pregnancy is not easy but they motivated me and we successfully completed our project. My husband was rock solid behind me and finally we are bringing the movie to you,” she said.
Neeru, who recently delivered a baby girl, said the movie was closest to her heart as she had emotional connect. “I have never felt so much in character before and this movie is certainly a tribute to my daughter,” she said.
Meanwhile, male lead Binnu Dhillon claimed that this movie was totally different from his previous projects and he was very excited about playing a lead role that is not comic.
