To boost the ongoing movement ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the Society for Health, Education and Women Empowerment Awareness (SHEWA) organised a poster-making and slogan-writing competition at Government School, Kishanpur, here yesterday. More than 65 students participated in the competition.
Dr Sujata from SHEWA, while speaking on the occasion said “Though women have made their mark in the academic field, they are somehow unaware of their rights, which creates a number of problems in their life”.
Dr Pratik, secretary of SHEWA, said several steps needed to be taken to give a concrete shape to the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign.
DP Nautiyal, principal of the school, said these issues needed to be raised so that these became the sole topic of discussion in every house of the state. We have to provide equal opportunities to women in every sector of life, he added.
