Mussoorie, February 18

Tehri Garhwal District Magistrate Indudhar Baudai directed officials concerned at a meeting held at the district headquarters yesterday to be prepared for the immediate disaster response services (IDRS). Baudai said the district fell in the seismic zone-IV, hence they should keep their equipment and resources prepared for any disaster that could strike the region. He assigned duties to 33 officials each of various disaster control units in the district. He informed mediapersons that the chief development officer (CDO), the DSP and the Fire Officer had been nominated as safety officers. The executive engineer from the construction division had been nominated liaison officer.

Earlier, the guidelines issued by the government in this regard were shown in a slideshow presentation to the officials attending the meeting.

The DM said besides the officers from essential services, help would also be taken from the armed forces for expediting the work under the disaster response system. He stressed on coordination between the planning section and officers of communication services. SSP NS Napalchayal, CMP Arjun Singh Senger, ADM Shiv Kumar Barnwal attended the meeting.
