A group of activists and youths today held a protest against the release of the juvenile who had been convicted in Nirbhaya rape and murder case.

The protesters raised slogans against the court decision and demanded stern punishment for the accused. Earlier, a group of college students and activists gathered at Gandhi Park and held a protest march towards Clock Tower.

Social activist Devendra Prasad said, “The decision of releasing a criminal will strengthen the audacity of criminals and compound the feeling of insecurity among women”. There was a need to formulate a strong law against such criminals, Prasad added.

Shikha Tyagi, Akash Tomar, Naveen Bisht, Ashish Kumar, Akriti and Shubhi took part in the protest.
