Nearly two years have passed since gangster-turned-politician Jaswinder Singh Rocky of Fazilka was murdered at Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh on April 30, 2016, but the Himachal police have failed to arrest any accused.
Rocky’s sister Rajdeep Kaur said even the officers, including the DSP, who were investigating her brother’s case, were recently transferred. Now, they had moved an application in the HP High Court seeking a CBI probe.
“Officers’ transfer will further delay the investigation. Earlier, an IGP supervising the probe was arrested in a gangrape case. We fear that some bigwig is behind the plot, thus the police are delaying the investigation. Though gangster Jaipal and Tiarth Dhilwan, both belonging to Punjab and wanted in a number of cases, were booked, besides two unidentified persons, no one has been arrested till date,” she alleged.
Rocky was killed when he was travelling with some persons. Though two gunmen were also accompanying him in another vehicle, they did not open fire, bringing their role under scanner. “The Himachal police team had told us that someone accompanying Rocky connived with the assailants. However, even after such a long time they are groping in the dark,” said Rajdeep, who had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections from Fazilka.
She added, “My brother had a number of weapons registered on his arms licence, but we have not found a single weapon. Some documents were also stolen from our house in Fazilka. We had lodged a complaint in this regard too to the Bathinda IGP, but nothing happened till date.”
She said, “I am not aware about the criminal record or cases pending against my brother, but people in our area can vouch for his character. He was a social worker and transformed the lives of many needy people.”
Solan SP Mohit Chawla said, “The DSP investigating the case was recently transferred. But we have an efficient team and I will give strict directions to the newly appointed DSP and others to put in maximum efforts to crack the case at the earliest. The Punjab Police are coordinating with us and it is our onus to crack the case. We had sent the teams to Punjab in November last year to get any clue about those booked in the case, but their houses were found locked.”
