Patiala, January 10
Three hitmen and aides of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi were arrested from Jodhpur by a team of the district police. Their interrogation has revealed that a deputy jail superintendent and a youth leader were on their hit list.
The accused have been identified as Ravinderpal Singh Raju Ghora, Prem Kumar Bablu and Raju Ram. “Their detailed questioning will be done once they reached Patiala. But we have got some serious details after their initial grilling,” said SP (Investigation) Harvinder Virk.
The police have recovered imported weapons, a car and some cash from them. An FIR has been registered against them at Rajpura police station. Two of their aides Gursewak Bunty of Chandigarh and Sukhwinder Singh managed to flee.
Sources confirmed that Ravinderpal had attacked rival gangster Vicky Gounder in Ropar jail a few years ago.
“They were targeting a deputy jail superintendent as the officer had dealt strictly with Bishnoi inside the jail. A youth leader who recently came to limelight after facing allegations that he used money power to rise in politics was also on their radar,” a source said.
Lawrence was last week taken to Jodhpur from Faridkot on production warrant in a murder case. He was produced in the court on Friday where he had reportedly threatened to kill actor Salman Khan. — TNS
