Sangrur, November 26
Four persons, including an German-based NRI, his wife and son, were killed in an accident near Ghunas village in Barnala district today. A motorcyclist was also killed in the mishap.
The deceased have been identified as NRI Parveen Kumar (49), hailing from Panipat of Haryana, his wife Ritu (45), son Monty (4) and motorcyclist Amandeep Singh.
The accident took place when the SUV Parveen was driving hit the motorcyclist and then collided with a tree. They were on the way to Bathinda to meet his in-laws there. Ashok Kumar, who was travelling with Parveen’s family, is under treatment at a Tapa hospital.
After getting information about the accident, members of the Mini Sahara Club, Tapa, reached the spot and informed the police. The club members shifted the victims to the Tapa hospital. Parveen had returned from German a few days ago.
“All four were declared brought dead by the Tapa hospital authorities. Their bodies will be handed over to their relatives after a postmortem examination at the Barnala civil hospital. Our team has started investigations,” said Lakhwinder Singh, munshi at the Tapa police station.
Moga mishap: Rs1 lakh for kin
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday announced Rs 1 lakh ex gratia each for the kin of five persons who were killed in an accident on the Baghapurana-Bhagta Bhai Ka road in Moga district on Saturday.
Besides, the Chief Minister also directed the district authorities to ensure free medical treatment for the injured. — TNS
