Fatehgarh Sahib, May 29
Four members of a family were killed and three others were injured when the car they were travelling in hit a roadside tree on the Sirhind-Patiala road near Roorki village.
Passersby informed the police, who took the injured to the Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib. After first-aid, they were referred to Chandigarh.
Pardeep Singh Bajwa, SHO, Mulepur, said the incident took place when Sunil Kumar (30), a resident of Dugri, Ludhiana, along with his wife Sonia, two daughters and some relatives were coming back from Kaithal in Haryana after attending a ‘jagran’.
As the car reached near Roorki village, the driver lost control over the vehicle and the car hit a tree. Sunil Kumar, his wife and two daughters died on the spot.
The Station House Officer said the bodies had been kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib, and would be handed over to the relatives after a postmortem examination.
