Chandigarh, November 25

AAP MLA from Sunam Aman Arora has written to Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, urging him to look and plan beyond two years when GST compensation to states by the Centre will cease.

Arora said what bothered him was the fact that if the state’s fiscal health was down with a delay in compensation worth mere Rs 4,100 crore, then how was the state going to survive after two years.

Elaborating the state of finances and debt on the state, Arora said it was unfortunate that in last 10 years of the SAD-BJP regime, Punjab’s debt rose from Rs 51,000 crore to Rs 1,82,000 crore, whereas during the present Cong government it rose from Rs 1,82,000 crore to Rs 2,30,000.

“Despite this, the Chief Minister or the Finance Minister have failed to give a roadmap to bring the state’s economy back on the track,” he alleged.
