Ropar, July 21
A day after a local court framed charges against AAP MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa in a molestation case, party co-convener Dr Balbir Singh on Saturday accused the Congress government of misusing power. He alleged that Sandoa was being framed to tarnish the image of AAP.
He alleged that the Congress and the Akali Dal were trying hard to malign AAPleaders with false allegations. He said it was hard to believe that the police registered a case against the MLA within an hour, even without recording his statement.
Meanwhile, the Akali Dal asked the AAP leadership to take action against Sandoa. SAD spokesman Maheshinder Singh Grewal said Arvind Kejriwal had made women’s safety a poll plank in the Assembly elections. “Now, when his own legislator has been hauled up by the court for outraging the modesty of a woman, Kejriwal is maintaining a stoic silence,” he said.
