Moga, December 27
Three days after a four-year-old boy living in a slum area on the Zira road in the city was allegedly abducted, the police on Thursday recovered the child and arrested four persons, including two women, SP (Investigation) Vazir Singh said here.
He said the abducted child, Farmaan Mohammad, was handed over to his parents after medical examination. The child was sold to a Kapurthala man for Rs 1.5 lakh by the abductors, SP Vazir Singh said.
The police officer said the child was abducted by Nitin, Sunny and Preeti, all residents of Moga, with the help of Kulwinder Kaur in a car bearing registration number of Delhi. Another accused, Lakhwinder Singh, was yet to be arrested.
Investigations revealed that Kulwinder Kaur, resident of Kapurthala, allegedly sold the child to Dalwinder Singh, also a resident of Kapurthala, for Rs 1.5 lakh. Dalwinder prepared legal papers to adopt the child. Kulwinder told Dalwinder that she was the mother of the child.
With the help of CCTV cameras, the police managed to trace the car with Delhi registration number. It was sold to Nitin, a local resident.
The address of Nitin, who happened to be one of the abductors, was traced. He was driving the car at the time of abduction. Thus, the police cracked the case and recovered the child.
