A 90-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his son at Gholia Khurd village in Nihalsinghwala subdivision of the district, police officials said here on Tuesday.
The body of the deceased, Kirpal Singh, was sent to the district hospital here for post-mortem.
Neighbours said Kirpal was allegedly beaten to death by his son Sewak Singh with an iron rod. The deceased man’s daughter Baljit Kaur lodged a complaint against her brother on the basis of which a murder case was registered against him. The police officials said in the evening that the accused was arrested.
Preliminary findings revealed that Sewak was a drug addict and asking his father to sell their ancestral home, but his father was not willing to sell the house, due to which there was a dispute between them. It was due to this reason that Sewak murdered his father, alleged Baljit Kaur in her complaint. The police have recovered the iron rod used in the crime.
