The youth was accused of luring away a married woman of Killi Nihal Singhwala village. The youth’s condition is stated to be critical and he has been referred to Faridkot Medical College.

According to information, Manvir had an affair with a married woman of Killi Nihal Singh Wala village. The woman eloped with Manvir a few days ago when she went to her parents’ house at Killa Nau village.

Subsequently, the woman’s in-laws had lodged a report against Manvir at the Killi Nihal Singhwala police post. Later, the panchayat of Killa Nau village in Faridkot handed over Manvir to the police on Sunday.

Manvir Singh alleged that ASI Kaur Singh thrashed him brutally. After he received injuries, ASI Kaur Singh along with the police party took him to a private hospital in Bathinda this morning, where doctors after seeing his condition referred him to Faridkot.

Manvir’s kin alleged that he was beaten up brutally in custody and he had received serious injuries on neck and back.

Bathinda SSP Dr Nanak Singh said, “Killi Nihal Singh police post incharge ASI Kaur Singh has been suspended and we have already sent the police team to record the victim’s statement, after which an FIR will be lodged against the erring police official.”
