The Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Magistrates of Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr have ordered to suspend the screening of a TV serial, ‘Ram Siya Ke Luv-Kush’, being aired on the Color channel with immediate effect.
The Deputy Commissioners have asked the cable operators to stop the screening of the serial for a month in the districts. The orders have come after Bhagwan Valmiki Tiger Force, All-India Action Committee and Sri Guru Ravidas Tiger Force gave a call for bandh tomorrow in view of alleged derogatory remarks against Bhagwan Valmiki.
The administrative officials are working to pacify the agitators.
Nawanshahr DC Vinay Bublani said in view of strong objection to the content of the serial by leaders of some communities, it became mandatory to stop its screening in public interest to ma.
The DMs issued the orders under Section 19 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 (Act No. 7) of 1995.
