Ferozepur, September 10
The Golden Arrow Division of the Army today celebrated the 52nd anniversary of the “Barki Day”. The ‘Battle of Barki’ was fought between September 6 and 10 in 1965 by 65 Infantry Brigade which had captured Barki village on the Ichhogil Canal, around 14 km from Lahore.
Major General Rajesh Kundra, SM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Golden Arrow Division, and other senior commanders laid wreath at the Barki War Memorial.
The GOC exhorted all ranks of the division to re-dedicate themselves in the service of the nation, and emulate war veterans and martyrs whose sacrifices have brought glory to the nation.
A number of officers, JCOs and jawans of Ferozepur Garrison participated in the event to pay homage to the martyrs who fought the battle of Barki and 1965 war.
