Bathinda, February 23
Air India is all set to start a flight to Jammu from the Bathinda airport from February 27. This will be the second air link for the city after Delhi.
As per information, the Air India flight will take off daily from Jammu airport at 9.15 am and will arrive at the Bathinda airport at 10.20 am. Then, it will take off from Bathinda at 10.50 am and will reach Jammu at noon.
It would benefit tourists and pilgrims going to Vaishnu Devi and Jammu as presently passengers have to go by train or by road, which takes around 11-14 hours, but with Bathinda-Jammu flight getting operational, it will reduce the travel time to 1 hour and 5 minutes.
The minimum flight fare of Rs 1,295 is set on the first come first serve basis and the maximum price would go up to Rs 2,500.
Alliance Airline, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the national carrier Air India, is starting the new flight under the regional connectivity scheme. Bathinda is the only city in Punjab having been selected under the ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN 2) scheme for the second tier cities.
