Sangrur, February 4
Rajya Sabha MP and senior SAD leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa today accused Congress leader Rahul Inder Sidhu, son of former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, and Harman Bajwa, husband of Punjab Youth Congress vice-president Daman Thind Bajwa, of having links with gangster Ravi Deol.
Dhindsa alleged that both facilitated the surrender of Deol on the condition that the latter would level false allegations against Amanveer Singh Cherry, his former OSD and a relative. Dhindsa also accused the district police of working at the behest of Congress leaders.
“Since Bhattal is preparing to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur against me, her son Rahul conspired to tarnish my image. The district police are hobnobbing with Congress leaders. I will seek an independent probe either by a state agency or the CBI,” said Dhindsa, while talking to the media.
Both Rahul, Sangrur LS constituency president of the Youth Congress, and Harman have denied the allegations.
They said Dhindsa was rattled since Deol had named one of his relatives. “We do not have anything to do with Deol or his surrender,” they said.
Sangrur SSP Mandeep Sidhu said: “The investigation into cases against Deol is on without any political interference. We will not spare anyone involved in any wrongdoing,” he said.
Dhindsa lying: Bhattal
Chandigarh: Former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Sunday said instead of accusing others, the Dhindsa family should give an explanation over the allegations levelled against them by Deol. She said it was only because of his wrongdoings that Dhindsa had run away from his constituency (Sunam). TNS
