Jalandhar, October 2
Congress leader Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary today kick-started a Chetna Yatra from Bundala village of Phillaur Assembly constituency on the birth anniversary of two great leaders of the country, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The yatra was fagged off in the presence of Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary, a large number of youths, municipal councillors and Congress youth activists.
Chaudhary said the main objective of the yatra was to apprise people about the pro-poor, pro- farmer, pro-Dalit and the good work done by the Congress-led UPA government. He further said the Punjab government had made every possible attempt to malign the outlook of masses by claiming the credit for these endeavors of the Congress.
Lambasting the SAD-BJP alliance, he said it was a hard fact that the youth of Punjab was rudderless and had been pushed into drug abuse. The mafia in the state had ruined the peaceful and secure lives of Punjabis.
Chaudhary said it was high time that the sham that had been built by the Punjab Government should be exposed and made an ardent appeal to the youth to come out and take a pledge that they shall fight for cleaning up of the system by voting for the Congress.
