Chandigarh, August 13
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said here on Monday that the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) “no-show” in London had exposed the lack of ground support for Referendum 2020 even outside India.
He dismissed it as a futile exercise by a sham organisation to create trouble in India, particularly Punjab.
The presence of Pakistani politicians, including Nazir Ahmed, at the rally confirms that it was an ISI plot, which fell through, just as their attempts to create trouble in India have been failing all these years, he added.
Meanwhile, SFJ representative Gurpatwant Singh Pannun accused the CM of threatening to use violence against Referendum 2020 campaigners. “The SFJ is ready to face Capt Amarinder any place, any time for a debate on the referendum,”he said. — TNS
Why mum: Cong to PM
New Delhi: The Congress has questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Akali Dal in Punjab over the issue. In his tweet, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said: "As a sinister conspiracy is hatched to revive militancy in Punjab, why are BJP-Akali Dal mum? Why has Modi been stunned into a conspiratorial silence?" TNS
