Patiala, July 3
As part of the government’s efforts to revive the state’s industry, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will inaugurate an induction furnace in Mandi Gobindgarh on July 12.
Royal Concast, a unit of Royal Industries, is the first unit to be revived after the Congress formed government in the state.
Rajiv Sood, the owner of the furnace, said: “The unit was shut and taken over by a bank some years ago due to non-productivity and losses. We have bought the unit and managed its loans. We have got sanctions from the PSPCL and expanded it into a bigger project.”
“We are hopeful that the government’s pro-industry approach will lead to the revival of the state’s steel industry,” he said, adding that the past few years had not augured well for the industrial town.
Senior officials confirmed that the CM had given directions to issue sanctions to the industry without delay.
A Venu Prasad, CMD, PSPCL, said: “There are specific directions when it comes giving sanction to new industrial projects. We are committed to provide power at Rs5 per unit and files are being cleared at the earliest.”
Randeep Nabha, Amloh MLA, said: “The fact that the CM is himself inaugurating a revived industrial unit speaks volumes about the seriousness of the government to attract investment. The industrialists are upbeat that they have a government which is taking favourable steps. I have been conveyed by the CM that the industry in this industrial town will see speedy revival.”
