Jail Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has sought the registration of a murder case against SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal for sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib during his tenure as state Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

Addressing the Congress rally during the Rakhar Punia fair at Baba Bakala on Sunday, he said former CM Partap Singh Kairon was remembered for ushering in the White Revolution, while top Akali leaders were infamous for facilitating easy supply of ‘chitta’ (drugs).

Recently accused of distorting Gurbani, Randhawa said he was a Sikh first, then a Congress worker.

Congress MP and PPCC president Sunil Jakhar claimed that once the report of the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission was tabled in the Assembly on Monday, people would not let the Badals and Bikram Singh Majithia enter their villages.

Former Congress MLA Jasbir Singh Gill alias Dimpa accused the Badal family of ordering the police to fire at a congregation of Sikhs at Behbal Kalan in 2015.

Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Charanjit Singh Channi alleged that Sukhbir had hobnobbed with Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and orchestrated sacrilege incidents in the state. He claimed that the Sikhs would not spare the Badals for their actions.

Akal Takht to take up Randhawa case

Amritsar: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has announced that a meeting of the five Sikh high priests would be held within a fortnight to take up the allegations against Sukhjinder Randhawa. Addressing a press conference, the Jathedar said the minister had called Aurangzeb the author of ‘Zafarnama’, which was written by Guru Gobind Singh. The Jathedar flayed the attack on DSGMC chief Manjit Singh GK in the US. He called upon the Sikh community to legally pursue the matter to punish the culprits. — TNS
