The Communist Party of India (CPI) today condemned the move to remove Punjab poet Avtar Pash’s poem from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbook.

Dr Joginder Dayal, National Executive Member of the CPI, condemned RSS ideologue Dinanath Batra’s proposal to remove Pash’s poem from the textbook. He said, “Pash’s poetry depicts the life of downtrodden who become victims of this system.”

He said Batra should know that Pash was not only a poet but also an activist who steadfastly exposed the Khalistani forces.

Dr Dayal said the RSS wants to remove all progressive, liberal and democratic thoughts. — TNS
