Moga, April 12
A 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by the owner of a finance company, in which she was working as a help, at Dashmesh Nagar in Moga, police officials said here on Monday.
The girl told the police that Ranjit Singh Randhawa of Randhawa Finance Company asked her to bring a glass of water for him. When she went in his cabin, he kept the glass on the table and started molesting her.
“I resisted but he forcibly abused me.
He also threatened to kill me if I told this to anybody,” she told the police.
She, however, told her parents who took her to a hospital and reported to the local police.
The medical examination of the girl was conducted at the district hospital here, in which it has been prima facie established that she was indeed sexually abused, the doctors concerned said.
The police have arrested the accused after a under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC was registered against him.
However, the police did not add relevant sections of The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Assistant Sub Inspector Kulwinder Kaur said investigations were on.
