A day after the police found the body of Davinder Kaur from a canal near Jagdev Khurd village, the bodies of her daughter and two sons were recovered from the same canal here today.
Divers from the BSF were pressed into service for tracing the bodies since the villagers found the body of Davinder Kaur stuffed in a bag with her hands tied.
Harpal Singh, SP (Investigations), said the police found the body of Loveroop Singh from the canal near Sainsara Kalan village, while Sharanjit Kaur and Onkar Singh’s bodies were recovered from Ranewali village. These bodies were also stuffed in bags.
The police have also arrested the prime suspect, Harvant Singh, for the murder while hunt was on for remaining three accused in the case.
He said investigations carried out so far revealed Harvant had illicit relations with a number of women and his family used to object to this. They had tried to convince him not to indulge in such things as it could ruin the future of the children. However, he did not relent. He along with his four accomplices killed his wife and three children with sticks on June 16 and later threw their bodies after stuffing bags with hands tied behind in the canals.
The SP said the accused was trying to escape after stealing over Rs 1 lakh from the house when he was nabbed by the raiding police parties following specific input. He said hunt was on to arrest the remaining suspects.
