The 5-hour-and-30-minutes delay in arrival of the Delhi-Adampur flight today caused inconvenience to fliers and their family members who came to receive them. The worsening air quality and low visibility in Delhi affected flight operations.
The only 90-seater Spicejet flight from Delhi to Adampur, which takes off from Delhi at 10.05 am and reaches here at 11.20 am, today arrived at 4.50 pm. After a 40-minute halt, the flight departed for Delhi at 5.30 pm, a delay of 5 hour 50 minutes. Officials at the enquiry counter said the flight was delayed due to low visibility and smoggy conditions at the Delhi airport.
Vikram Singh, a businessman, chose to travel by road after waiting for more than an hour at the airport.
The second largest military airbase of India, Adampur, is the only airport that provides direct air connectivity to Delhi, to a large number of non-resident Indians (NRIs) from Doaba.
