Depot-holders seek hike in commission

Chandigarh, July 12

Thousands of depot holders of the state have sought revision in commission from existing Rs 50 to Rs 87 per quintal of wheat apart from the fixed monthly payment of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 per depot holder.

The depot holders also demanded that ration cards of beneficiaries registered with the Public Distribution System (PDS) should not be linked with Aadhaar.

In a press conference here today, Gurinder Singh Sidhu, president, Punjab State Depot Holders Union, said, “Over two lakh depot holders from across the country will hold a protest march towards Parliament on July 18 under the banner of All-India Fair Price Shop Federation to press for these demands.”
