Yet again, the Akal Takht has directed all political parties in Punjab to desist from presenting “siropas” (robe of honour) in their programmes.
Keeping in mind the sanctity of the “siropa”, Akal Takht has already put a blanket ban on its use by the political parties and instead told them to make use of their party symbols.
Despite this ban, the parties carried on presenting “siropas” to their newly inducted members or honouring the guest during their functions and rallies.
The SAD has written a letter to Akal Takht secretariat that the party had been observing the directions of Akal Takht.
The letter undersigned by party spokesperson Daljeet Singh Cheema has also been sent to the heads of all wings of the party.
While citing the Takht’s earlier April 4 directions of putting a ban on the use of “siropas”, applicable to all politicial parties, it has been mentioned that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had ordered all party presidents to abide by Akal Takht directions in toto.
