DGP holds SIT meet, cops intensify search

The Punjab Police have started taking extensive steps to trace the siblings, Hasandeep and Jashandeep, aged 6 and 10, respectively, who went missing on the night of July 22 from Kheri Gandian village in Patiala.

Dinkar Gupta, DGP, Punjab, who had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising members of the crime and investigation wings to probe the matter, today held a meeting with the members of the SIT at Kheri Gandian police station. He reviewed the current progress and steps being initiated further.

AS Rai, IGP, said, “Over 100 divers along with 50 police officers have been put on job to look for the children at the Nirwana branch of the Bhakra canal and SYL in Haryana with the help of motorboats.”

“There is no call for ransom and no allegations against anyone. It is one of the hurdles we are facing and trying to overcome,” the IGP said. The police have intensified their search in the village as well. They have searched all fields and water tanks there.

Grandfather announces Rs 5-lakh reward

The grandfather of the two children on Thursday, while talking to the media, announced that the family would give Rs 5 lakh to anyone who gave them information about the children.
