Parminder Dhindsa, SAD-BJP Sangrur candidate and former Punjab Cabinet minister, and Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate Jassi Jasraj today filed their nomination papers. Father of Parminder SAD Rajya Sabha MP and party rebel Sukhdev Dhindsa, who had resigned from all SAD positions last year and demanded the resignation of Sukhbir Badal, was not present during the filing of nomination citing health problems.

“The wishes of my father are always with me and this morning he gave his blessings. He could not come due to health problems. But since my political opponents do not have anything against me, they are trying to create baseless impression that there is a problem in our family,” said Parminder after filing his nomination papers in the Sangrur District Electoral Officer’s office.

Parminder did not organise any big road show or rally, but simply, along with his mother Harjeet Kaur, wife Gagandeep Kaur, SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal, former BJP minister Anil Joshi and some relatives, reached the District Electoral Officer’s office and filed his nomination papers.

“I wanted to come, but doctors did not allow me as I am down with intense cervical pain. Like any father, I always want Parminder to win and my best wishes are with him,” Sr Dhindsa told The Tribune.
