Doctors bagged the top three positions in the Punjab State Civil Services Combined Competitive (Main) Exam 2013. Anmoldeep Singh (25) from Mansa, who recently completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Patiala, topped the exam, scoring 51.98 per cent. Jai Inder Singh (30) and Himanshu Gupta (26) stood second and third, respectively. Jai completed his BDS from Ludhiana, and Himanshu Gupta (26) his MBBS from Government Medical College, Patiala. All these candidates belonged to the general category.
The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has selected 120 officers in different departments including civil and police departments.
Anmoldeep, the son of advocate Gurdeep Singh Bheemra, did his class XII from Vidya Bharti School, Mansa. On his Facebook page, Anmoldeep said, “I am lucky to be one of the 120 people that got selected from the 30,000 candidates, who had appeared in preliminary examination.”
PCS topper Anmoldeep said he was thankful to his parents and teachers for their support. “I topped the PCS exam in my first attempt and I am very excited. I will wait for the final results of the IAS exam before deciding anything. I will work for the upliftment of the poor sections of the society,” he said.
While Jai Inder Singh is already serving as an Excise and Taxation Officer in Ludhiana, Anmoldeep Singh and Himanshu have also appeared in the Mains of IAS examination and are waiting for the results. Jai, who was selected in the last batch of PCS examination, didn’t get a PCS posting previously.
Meanwhile, even though the PPSC declared the much awaited results of the Punjab State Civil Services Combined Competitive (Main) Exam 2013 late yesterday evening, the candidates are finding it difficult to access the website due to some technical snag.
PPSC Secretary Kumar Saurabh Raj said the PPSC website was maintained by the National Informatics Centre and the PPSC Chairman had already informed them about the problem. He said the NIC was working to fix the problem.
