Muktsar, October 22
Famous Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, an ambassador of the Election Commission, is still facing the anger of people over his recent remarks of ‘one nation-one language’.
Maan belongs to the Gidderbaha sub-division in Muktsar district. He has a huge fan following here. However to vent their anger against Maan, some people have torn a hoarding of the Election Commission installed in the District Administrative Complex.
Mann in the past has repeated that he was all for the mother tongue Punjabi, but at the same time promoting one language across the country was also important as it would make communication easier and open up new vistas for Punjabis.
On the damage of a hoarding, a senior official in the district administration said, “The hoarding is a public property and those damaged it will have to face legal action. Nobody can go scot-free after causing loss to the public property.” — TNS
