The district police have booked an Inspector and three other cops on the charges of corruption, criminal breach of trust, framing of an incorrect record and fabricating a criminal case of drugs against a 55-year-old man and his son.
A case under Sections 218 and 409 of the IPC, Section 59 of the NDPS Act and Section 13 (1)C of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Inspector Gurpyar Singh, Head Constables Lal Chand and Resham Singh and Constable Gurdeep Singh at Badhni Kalan police station.
The case was filed after an inquiry conducted by the Special Task Force of the state police found them prima facie guilty.
Gurpyar Singh, the then SHO of Badhni Kalan police station, claimed to have seized 15 bags of poppy husk, each weighing 35 kg, from a commercial vehicle during checking on the outskirts of the village on May 29, 2017.
The vehicle driver, Baljit Singh, and his son, Harjinder Singh, both residents of Daroli Bhai village, were arrested. A case under Sections 15, 25, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against them. The probe found that the vehicle was impounded on May 28, 2017, from the outskirts of Landeke village and taken to the SHO’s private residence at Badhni Kalan, where he demanded money to release the duo. As Baljit and Harjinder did not agree to a deal, both were booked.
No arrest had been made till the filing of this report.
