Father ‘rapes’ mentally challenged girl, booked

A man has been booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly raping his physically and mentally challenged daughter. The mother of the victim has been staying separately, while she was staying with her father.
“I got a call from Sunam Congress leader Daman Thind Bajwa in this regard. When we reached the victim’s house, she shared her tale of woes with us,” said Manjit Kaur, SDM, Sunam.
After getting information from Bajwa, Kaur called Sunam tehsildar Gurleen Kaur, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Navneet Kaur Toor, DSP Rajesh Snehi and doctors and reached the victim’s house. Her father was not at home.
“She told us about the ordeal she was going through at the hands of her father. We shifted her to the Sunam Civil Hospital, where her medical examination was conducted. Doctors say prima facie she seems to have faced physical abuse repeatedly,” the SDM said.
DSP Rajesh Snehi confirmed that they had registered an FIR under the POCSO Act against her father. — TNS
