Sangrur, October 29
A resident of Kadial has been making rounds of various government offices for the past four months to get a birth certificate of his 15-year-old son issued in English. Though Bhupinder Singla has a birth certificate in Punjabi, but the school authorities have demanded the certificate in English.
Ironically, the Family Welfare Department has issued a new birth certificate in Punjabi and that too with mistakes. “First, I went to Dirba Sewa Kendra. Now, I am making rounds of Sangrur Civil Surgeon (CS) office for the issuance of birth certificate in English. The officers concerned are not ready to address my issue,” said Bhagwan Dass. This has led to delay in submission of form of my son who studies in Class X alleged Dass.
In a birth certificate issued in Punjabi in 2004, the Local Registrar of Death and Birth, has shown name of his son as Bhupinder Singla son of Bhagwan Dass and grandson of Raghuvir Chand.
However, in a new certificate issued in Punjabi on July 29,2019 by the District Registrar of Death and Birth, Sangrur, the name has been changed to Bhupinder Singh while the name of grandfather is missing.
“I had applied for a copy in English, but Civil Surgeon-cum-District Registrar Office issued a birth certificate in Punjabi with mistakes . Later, when I approached them, they did not listen to me. I request senior authorities to look into the matter,” said Dass.
When contacted Sangrur Civil Surgeon Dr Raj Kumar, who is district Registrar of Death and Birth said he would look into the matter. “I will immediately look into the matter and take appropriate action,” he said.
