Atul Singh, Uttar Pradesh STF SP, informed the Sriganganagar police yesterday that Deepak had been arrested on the charge of accepting Rs 1-crore “supari” to kill Madhya Pradesh gangster Sanjay Yadav.

On August 1, Vinod Beniwal (28), a lab technician in Balasar, was found murdered on a road near Sriganganagar with his face mutilated. The police had cracked the case by arresting Beniwal’s love interest Indubala, who was working as an instructor in a nursing institute. She, along with Deepak, had allegedly conspired to kill Beniwal after she fell for the gangster.

On July 31, Deepak had invited Beniwal to Indubala’s house in Sriganganagar. After serving him liquor, Deepak asked Beniwal to snap ties with Indubala, but he refused. Irate, Deepak allegedly shot Beniwal.

Deepak, on his Facebook page, repeatedly dared the police to arrest him. He also threatened the police if they continued to “harass” his girlfriend. She is in jail now.

Sriganganagar DSP Tulsi Dass Purohit said it may take a month to bring Deepak in Sriganganagar as he would be first interrogated by the UP and MP police and then by the Alwar police that had registered a murder case against him.— OC
