Girl ends life after spat over Rs10

A 15-year-old girl, Anju Rani, committed suicide in the Khui Khera village over a dispute with her younger brother.

A petrol pump employee, Bhup Ram, of the village said his wife Indira Devi who is working with a private bank, had given Rs 10 to Anju Rani to buy something from the market.

Bhup Ram and his wife left for their jobs. In their absence, the girl and her brother Nasib Kumar (9) started quarrelling over spending Rs 10. Police sources said Nasib snatched Rs 10 from his sister and went to a nearby shop to buy eatables. Depressed, Anju Rani reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a girder of the room at 3 pm today.

Her post-mortem was conducted at the local Civil Hospital in the evening.
