Govt has failed to ensure SCs’ safety: Kainth

Quoting examples of violence against Scheduled Caste residents in the state at a press conference here today, president of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) Paramjit Singh Kainth alleged that the Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government had failed in ensuring safety and welfare of the Scheduled Castes.

Kaith made reference to the incident in Faridkot district on September 6 where a woman teacher was allegedly sexually assaulted by the Chairman of Guru Gobind Singh Adarsh Model School. The officer on duty filed his report under irrelevant sections to the disadvantage of the complainant. The matter required CM’s intervention.

The NSCA appealed to the CM to organise meetings of the State Vigilance and Monitoring Committee regularly to review and act on the cases of the Scheduled Castes community.
