Chandigarh, October 17
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has set aside orders issued by the District Magistrates of Kapurthala, Nawanshahr and Amritsar, vide which the telecast of TV serial ‘Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush’ was suspended.
Allowing the writ petition filed by Colors TV and other petitioners against Punjab and others, Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa today directed the setting aside of the impugned orders and other identical directions that may have been passed by other District Magistrates of the state.
Taking up the petition filed through senior advocate Vikas Bahl, Abhinav Sood and Jay K Bhardwaj, Justice Dhindsa observed that the state government had taken a conscious decision to set up a committee to examine the issue, which after deliberations suggested corrective measures. The same were not only accepted by the petitioners, but also implemented in episodes. They also furnished an undertaking to adhere to such corrective steps for future telecast as well. The Bench said it would be open for the state government to pass orders if petitioners violate their undertaking. — TNS
