A Health Department team led by senior medical officer Chander Mohan Kataria conducted a raid at the clinic of ‘medical practitioner’ Jagir Chand in Jorki Andhewali village of Fazilka district today.

Fazilka Civil Surgeon Daler Singh Multani told The Tribune that Jagir Chand had been treating patients, particular those who consumed pesticides, in a fraudulent manner since long and minting money.

He said when the team checked the antecedents of Jagir Chand, his diploma certificate in ‘community medical services and essential drugs’ issued by a Mohali-based firm was found to be fake.

He said a large number of tablets, capsules, injections and glucose bottles of different varieties were seized from the premises of the accused. A case has been registered against him under Sections 420, 465 and 468 of the IPC, Section 15(2) of the Indian Medical Council Act and Section 27 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
