Severe heat wave has claimed the life of a 40-year-old farmer at Chugga Kalan village in Moga district, police sources said today.

Balaur Singh is believed to have died of heat stroke. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained by medical experts.

He was working in the fields along with his wife Charanjit Kaur when he suddenly collapsed. Balaur died on the spot within seconds, his wife told the local police.

Sukhmandar Singh, ASI, Mehna police station, reached the spot and took the body into custody. Doctors in the district hospital here have conducted the post-mortem examination. The report is awaited.
