Indebted to HP couple, says martyr’s family

Paramjit Kaur, wife of martyr Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh, has thanked a Himachal Pradesh bureaucrat couple for helping the family.
IAS officer Younus Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Kullu; and his IPS wife Anjum Ara, SSP, Solan; have adopted Khushdeep Kaur, younger daughter of the martyr. They are sponsoring her studies and will also bear her marriage expenses. She is residing with her mother, elder sister Simrandeep Kaur and brother Sahildeep Singh at Vein Poin, the martyr’s native village, 15 km from here. Paramjit was beheaded by Pakistani troops in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir in May.
The couple visited the family at Vein Poin yesterday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Paramjit said the couple was in regular touch with them and redressing their problems.
She, however, rued that most of the promises announced by the state and Central governments were yet to be fulfilled. The widow said the state government was yet to give a grant of Rs 6 lakh, besides a residential plot.
Paramjit said the local government senior secondary school and the village stadium were yet to be renamed after the martyr.
Paramjit also thanked Pritpal Singh, a Jalandhar-based social activist, for giving financial help to the family.
