Demanding arrest of all 32 accused in the Gurdev Kaur Jhaloor murder case, six farmer organisations today organised a rally in the Sangrur grain market and staged a protest in front of the Sangrur DC office. They have announced to start an indefinite protest if the police fail to arrest the accused at the earliest.
Under the banner of the Jhaloor Zabar Virodhi Action committee, members of six organisations, including the Zameen Prapati Sangharsh Committee (ZPSC) , BKU Ugraha, BKU Krantikari, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, Krantikar Pendu Mazdoor Union and Kirti Kisan Union first converged on the local grain market and organised a protest rally there. “Seven months after the registration of murder case against 32 accused in Gurdev Kaur murder case, only five accused have been arrested as yet while the remaining are roaming free and threatening the Dalits of Jhaloor village to withdraw the case,” said Mukesh Malaud, district president, ZPSC.
“We have been trying to resolve the issue with the consent of both parties to restore peace in Jhaloor village. There is no delay on our part and our investigations are going on,” said Ajaypal Singh, DSP, Moonak.
