‘Kar sewa’ for Dukh Bhanjani Beri

Amritsar:Acting on the advice of experts, the concrete marbled surrounding of the centuries-old ‘beri’ (jujube), known as “Dukh Bhanjani Beri”, is being removed to ensure that the roots get proper space and air.

The other two “pious” trees “Beri Baba Budha Sahib” and “Lachi Beri” do not have such hindrance, as the concrete from their base was removed a few years back.

A “kar sewa”, being performed under Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale, was kicked off by the SGPC in the presence of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghubir Singh, Golden Temple’s head priest Giani Jagtar Singh and the SGPC chief secretary Dr Roop Singh on Friday.
